Sept./ Oct 2024 - Paul, Mitch, Chris and I made our fall canoe trip to the Boundary Waters. It was the opposite of our spring trip in that it was dry with low water levels. In fact, a burn ban went into effect while we were up there. We never received word of it so continued to enjoy small camp fires. We entered at Kawishiwi Lake and paddled north to Malberg Lake, which served as a base camp. At one point, we paddled up the Louse River, hoping to get the lone camp site on Boze Lake. The water was very low and we considered turning around… but kept going. When we finally made it to Boze, the lone site was occupied. So we backtracked to Malberg…

This trip was during a new moon so we had dark skies for star-gazing. It was great and we saw the Aurora on the first and last nights!
